The Victorian seafront hotel reopens with new marble bathrooms, a piano bar and an in-house wellness centre following an extensive refurbishment programme.
The Chatsworth Hotel has reopened on Eastbourne’s Grand Parade following an extensive refurbishment programme delivered by UK Hotels, phased so the hotel continued trading throughout.
The building presented the challenges typical of a Victorian seafront property: tired services behind protected period fabric. Our approach was to retain and restore everything of character — the cage lift, the chequerboard marble flooring, the seafront frontage — while replacing what sat behind it.
Every bedroom has been individually designed and fitted with a new marble bathroom. The ground floor has been reconfigured to create a piano bar alongside the Italian restaurant, opening both to non-residents for the first time.
A purpose-built wellness centre now occupies previously underused lower-ground space, and a full back-of-house upgrade has improved service routes, storage and staff facilities.
