Our commitment
UK Hotels has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings, and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our own business or in our supply chains.
Our business and supply chain
We manage, develop and advise on hotels, restaurants, wellness operations and event venues in the United Kingdom. Our supply chain includes food and beverage suppliers, laundry and housekeeping services, maintenance and construction contractors, and recruitment agencies.
We consider the hospitality and construction sectors to carry an elevated risk of labour exploitation, particularly in relation to agency and subcontracted labour. Our controls are focused accordingly.
Steps we take
The following measures apply across every property we operate:
- Right-to-work checks are completed and recorded for every employee before they start
- We pay at or above the statutory minimum and do not withhold wages, documents or deposits
- We do not charge any worker a fee to obtain work with us
- Recruitment agencies must confirm their own compliance before we engage them
- Contractors and suppliers are required to confirm compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
- Working time and rest breaks are monitored through our payroll and rota systems
Training and awareness
Managers receive guidance on recognising the indicators of labour exploitation and trafficking — including workers who appear under the control of a third party, share an address or bank account, or are reluctant to discuss their circumstances.
All team members are briefed on how to raise a concern during induction.
Raising a concern
Anyone with a concern about modern slavery in our business or supply chain should raise it with their line manager, or contact us in confidence at info@ukhotels.co.uk. Concerns raised in good faith will be investigated and no one will suffer detriment for reporting.
Approval
This statement is reviewed annually and approved by the board of UK Hotels.
